Configuring Product Families Using Design Spaces
In the product family based application engineering process configuration of the reusable assets is an important issue. Variability introduced during domain engineering has to be resolved to the concrete requirements of the specific application. On the requirements level variability is typically described in feature models as introduced in the FODA approach. On lower levels variability is integ...
متن کاملTool for Configuring Product Individuals from Configurable Software Product Families
This position paper presents a tool for configuring product individuals from configurable software product lines. The product derivation is done by making selections based on a configuration model in a way that best satisfies customer requirements at hand. The tool produces a description of the product individual as an output. The implementation is based on both component-based and feature-base...
متن کاملProduct derivation in software product families: a case study
From our experience with several organizations that employ software product families, we have learned that, contrary to popular belief, deriving individual products from shared software assets is a time-consuming and expensive activity. In this paper we therefore present a study that investigated the source of those problems. We provide the reader with a framework of terminology and concepts re...
متن کاملConfiguring, Building and Running Models in GENIE
The following casestudy provides a workflow perspective on the Grid ENabled Integrated Earth systemmodelling (GENIE) framework, which was introduced in Vol. 1. The three aims in constructing the framework were; (i) the flexible coupling of Earth system components; (ii) to tune and run the resulting models on a wide variety of platforms, including the Grid; and (iii) to archive, query and retrie...
متن کاملUsing a Configurator for Modelling and Configuring Software Product Lines based on Feature Models
We show how WeCoTin, an academic prototype product configurator originally designed for non-software products, can be used to create and edit feature models of software product lines. Further, we show that WeCoTin enables the easy configuration of software product lines, i.e., generating descriptions of valid products in the product line.
